The Lambda Project is an ongoing
effort to tell the stories of the Rainbow Pride Flag.
Stories of sexuality (pink), life (red), healing (orange), sun
(yellow), nature (green), art (turquoise), harmony (indigo), and
spirit (violet). It is never too late to contribute your
real-life experiences to this growing body of work and by telling
your story you will inspire other people and hopefully change the
way we view the world and ourselves.
We would like to invite you to
tell us your story. This story will be molded into a monologue
and performed the opening night of the Rainbow Theater Festival.
Anyone may submit to this letter writing campaign regardless of
sexual preference. The more detail we have the better.
The letter can take
one or more possible forms. Here are a few examples:
There are many issues
dealing with this years theme (Turquoise/Art) in our society today (Artists
paving the way of acceptance, your own personal struggle as an
artist, your connection to others and the friendships you have
made because of the artsy things you do and enjoy and so much
more. The only
thing stopping you is your imagination. Our theme "art"
could mean a great many things.). We ask you to give voice to an
issue that speaks to you in the form of a letter. This letter could be directed at anyone -- a family
member, friends, the people you work with or go to school with,
elected officials, clergy or anyone else that you may feel the
need to express your feelings to.
This letter can also be
praising or thanking an individual or group who has helped you in a
positive way become the person you are today. This letter could be
a thank you to a person who stood by you during difficult times and
helped you mature and understand yourself, a love letter to someone
special, or a letter of encouragement to someone struggling with
life's pitfalls.
And there are many
other possibilities. These letters will not be sent to the
intended recipient, but rather incorporated into this year's
Lambda Project.
